****************************
In light of the challenges and heightened public attention in regards to the public health protocols regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Timmins Police Service wishes to remind the public that the second week of April is Tele-communicators Week.

Telecommunications personnel (9-1-1 dispatch) are an integral part of the public safety system installed in our community.

The Timmins Police Service wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge and honour those individuals who tirelessly give of themselves to respond to the needs of persons confronted with emergent circumstances.

This week-long event is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. It is a week that should be set aside so everyone can be made aware of their hard work, dedication and commitment to public safety.

Tele-communicators who manage the 9-1-1 system for police, fire, and medical emergency calls for service do so in a calm and composed manner.

Deriving information and critical details from persons in distress is a skill set that cannot be underestimated.

In emergent circumstances, the collection and articulate distribution of details to first responders is critical. These professionals apply patience, focus, and compassion in terms of service delivery on a daily basis.

The public and first responders count on the professionalism displayed by these dedicated tele- communicators.

Please join the Timmins Police Service in acknowledging these fine individuals who contribute daily to the sense of public safety we all enjoy in Timmins and area.
