The Timiskaming Health Unit is reporting two new COVID-19 cases.

According to a news release, the individuals are currently living outside the district.

“Although both of these individuals have home addresses in the Timiskaming district, they are currently out of the area and have not been in our district for some time. There is no risk of local exposure from these to cases,” reads the news release.

The cases bring the overall case count for the health unit to 18. Of those, 16 are recovered.

The health unit is encouraging people to continue following public health measures and provincial orders.

Those include:

  • Limiting social circles to a maximum of 10 people
  • Wearing a mask or face covering indoors when physical distancing from people not in your social circle isn’t possible
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow
  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer
  • Limit private gatherings to a maximum of 10 people indoors, and 25 people outdoors

Earlier this week, the Timiskaming Health Unit revised its COVID-19 case count.

While it had been sitting at 19, three cases were removed because their home addresses were in other jurisdictions.
