Three new COVID-19 cases part of Kapuskasing institutional outbreak

It brings the total case count to 167, with 29 known active cases

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting three new COVID-19 cases.

The cases are part of an institutional outbreak and in self-isolation, according to the health unit. An outbreak was declared at Extendicare in Kapuskasing on Jan. 7. There have been six cases linked to it. 

So far there have been 167 cases of the virus in the health unit region. Of those, 129 are recovered and nine people have died. There are 29 known active cases.

Yesterday, a state of emergency was declared in Ontario. Ontario Premier Doug Ford also announced a stay at home order, which is effective tomorrow (Jan. 14). More details on that are expected today.
