Three new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Timmins area

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 in the area. 

With these, there are now 21 cases confirmed in the health unit's region.

The 19th case is a woman in her 60s in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. According the health unit, she is contact of a confirmed case. She was tested March 26 and is in self-isolation.

A man in his 60s who is a close contact of another patient is the 20th confirmed case. He was tested March 26 and is in self-isolation. He is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls.

The 21st case is a man in his 60s who is in self-isolation. He was tested March 31. According to health unit the investigation is ongoing.

"COVID-19 is circulating in our area. Take preventive measures to reduce the spread: physical distancing — keeping at least two metres or six feet distance — between yourself and others. Everyone, not just travellers, please stay home if you’re feeling ill. Even if this feels like just a cold. You can help keep someone else from getting more seriously ill," reads the bulletin.
