The Porcupine Health Unit reported no new COVID-19 cases today.

There have now been no new positive tests in the region in 18 days.

To date, there have been 65 confirmed cases. Of those, at least 56 are resolved and seven people have died. The health unit is following one known active case of the virus.

COVID-19 testing is opening up to anyone who wants to be tested.

There are COVID-19 Assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne.

To be tested locally, people are still being asked to call their primary health care provider or the health unit first to be referred to the appropriate testing centre.

People won't be denied testing, but will still be asked questions about symptoms and referred to the appropriate centre.

The PHU COVID-19 hotline is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It can be reached at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.
