The pool at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex is reopening Monday, March 1, with new swim guidelines in place.

The pool’s schedule is currently available for March 1 to April 30. Swimming lessons are set to begin in May, according to the City of Timmins’ website.

Entry to the facility will be available by appointment only. Swimmers can make reservations up to two days in advance. Bookings are limited to three times a week per person.

The pool was closed early in the pandemic and was initially supposed to reopen in August.

While the pool was closed, the building's roof was replaced and new pool deck flooring was installed.

New guidelines at the pool now include wearing a mask at all times, except when swimming. Swimmers will have assigned lockers, and there will also be strict entry and exit times to access the building and the pool.

For both public and lane swim, the number of swimmers will be reduced to ensure physical distancing. Swims will be scheduled in one-hour sessions with 45-minute time blocks between sessions.

Saunas, diving board, viewing area and rock climbing wall will be closed.

The change rooms and the pool area will have limited capacity. There will be a limit of 10 people per change room. Sixteen people will be allowed in the main pool swimming area, six in the deep end swimming area and six in the small pool.

Parents or guardians will have to wait outside the facility if they are not accompanying their child for swimming lessons.

Washrooms will have every second sink and urinal closed. Swimmers are encouraged to shower at home and wear a bathing suit before coming to the pool.
