Public Health Ontario has reported 896 new cases of COVID-19 today, as well as nine deaths and 796 recoveries.
The new deaths reported today include one person between 60 and 79 years old and eight people over the age of 80. Three of the people who died were residents at long-term care facilities.
According to the province's public health agency, 22 people have been hospitalized for COVID-19 since yesterday's report and three COVID patients have been admitted to intensive care units.
Since last Friday (Oct. 23) the province has confirmed 6,362 new cases of COVID-19.
Of the 896 new cases reported today, 304 are individuals between 20 and 39 years old, and 239 are individuals between 40 and 59 years old.
There are 89 new cases reported in school-age children, including 26 who are between four and eight years old, 35 who are between nine and 13 years old, and 28 who are between 14 and 17 years old.
Ontario's four hotspot regions reported 77 per cent of all the new cases confirmed today with 314 cases from Toronto, 173 cases from Peel, 115 cases from York Region, and 92 cases from Ottawa.
The province has also reported 61 school-related cases today, including 40 student cases, four staff cases and 17 unidentified cases. There have been 2,159 school-related cases of COVID-19 reported across 551 schools since the start of September, and 889 of those cases were reported in the last 14 days. There are no schools in the province closed because of COVID-19.
There were nine new COVID cases reported in licensed child care settings today.
There are currently 7,669 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 314 people who are hospitalized with the coronavirus. There are 75 COVID patients in intensive care units and 52 COVID patients on ventilators.
To date, the province has confirmed 75,715 cases of COVID-19 and reported 63,919 resolved cases and 3,127 deaths.
A case is listed as resolved, or recovered, once 14 days have passed since the onset of symptoms without hospitalization or death.

Algoma Public Health: 43 cases, rate of 37.6 per 100,000 population. There are two known active cases.

North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 45 cases, rate of 34.7 per 100,000 population. The health unit has reported 47 cases. There are no known active cases.

Porcupine Health Unit: 96, rate of 115.1 per 100,000 population. The health unit has reported 98 cases. There are seven known active cases.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 126 cases, rate of 63.3 per 100,000 population. The health unit has reported 125 cases. There are nine known active cases.

Timiskaming Health Unit: 17 cases, rate of 52 per 100,000. There are no known active cases.

Northwestern Health Unit: 73 cases, rate of 83.3 per 100,000. The health unit has also reported two probable cases. There are three known active cases.

Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 115 cases, rate of 76.7 per 100,000. There are two known active cases.
The Ontario rate of infection is 502.6.
