Ontario Health is reporting another 408 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the province’s total to 4,038.
There are now 1,449 cases resolved (recovered) and 119 deaths in the province linked to the virus.
There are 523 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and 200 of those are in an intensive care unit. There are 154 people on a ventilator due to COVID-19.
Ontario has now tested 75,046 people for COVID-19 and there remains 981 cases under investigation.
The data reported by the province this morning was current as of 4 p.m. yesterday.
The province is also reporting outbreaks at 44 Ontario long-term care homes, yesterday there were 36.
Locally, the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) isn't reporting any new cases as of this morning. Currently, 29 people have tested positive locally.
As of this morning, the PHU was aware of 407 tests submitted locally. Of the 29 positives, five cases are resolved and two people have died. Of the tests submitted, 332 have been negative and the results of 46 are pending.
On Saturday, a province-wide emergency alert went out to Ontarians telling them to stay home and only to go out if it’s absolutely necessary.
Global News has reported the Department of National Defence says members of the Joint Task Force Central will be heading from units across Ontario to Canadian Forces Base Borden.The department says the aim is to form a task force at Borden.
The troops will then be ready to respond to any requests from the government to help deal with COVID-19 or potential spring flooding.
