Ontario Public Health has reported 1,015 new COVID cases today, which is the second-highest number of new cases reported in a single day by the province to date.
Today's update also reports nine deaths and 798 recoveries.
The deaths include one person between the ages of 40 and 59 years old, four people between the ages of 60 and 79 years old, and four people over the age of 80 years old.
According to today's report, there have also been 45 people hospitalized with the coronavirus since yesterday's update and four COVID patients admitted to intensive care units.
Of the 1,015 cases reported today, 94 are from Ottawa, 282 are from Peel, 325 are from Toronto, and 88 are from York Region.
There were 41,920 tests processed since last report and there are 36,262 tests awaiting processing. Labs in Ontario have now processed 5.1 million COVID-19 tests since January. Based on testing data from yesterday's report, 2.8 per cent of the people who were tested for COVID-19 test positive.
To date, the province has confirmed 76,730 cases of COVID-19 and reported 64,717 recoveries and 3,136 deaths.
The average incidence rate in Ontario is 509.5 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people.
This week the province has reported 7,399 new COVID cases, which is the highest number of new cases reported in a single week so far. The last seven days include both the highest and second-highest daily case counts with 1,042 new cases reported on Oct. 25 and 1,015 cases reported today. According to Public Health Ontario, there are 7,872 active, lab-confirmed cases in the province currently.
Since Oct. 1, the province's public health agency has reported 24,482 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, as well as 20,295 recoveries and 276 deaths.
Over the last 31 days, the province has also reported 1,186,462 COVID tests have been processed by labs across Ontario.
According to data from Public Health Ontario, 813 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 in the month of October, and 276 COVID patients were admitted to intensive care units. There are 320 patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19, including those in intensive care units (73 patients) and on ventilators (54 patients). At the end of September, there were 120 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and 4,995 active, lab-confirmed cases in the province.
