One new COVID-19 case reported in Moosonee

One new COVID-19 case has been reported by the Porcupine Health Unit. 

It is a person in Moosonee, according to the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA). The person is a contact of a case and in self-isolation. 

To date, there have been 339 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the region. As of Friday when the local data was last updated, 285 people had recovered and 25 people have died. 

According to a WAHA update, there are currently 12 active cases on the James Bay coast — nine in Moosonee and three in Moose Factory.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
