The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting no new COVID-19 cases in the region today.

So far, there have been 72 confirmed cases in the region. Of those, 64 are recovered and eight people have died.

The health unit is aware of 14,101 tests being done locally, which is an increase of 175 from yesterday’s report.

“While you can be close to those in your social circle, that may still not be enough. Practicing physical distancing can be difficult and may affect your mental health. It may leave you feeling lonely,” reads today’s report.

“Be sure to stay connected with your family, friends and colleagues. Building connections will support and enrich you every day. Use videochat, telephone, email or text to stay connected and to give and receive support during this tough time. Connect! Talk and listen. Be there. Feel connected.”

COVID-19 testing is open to anyone who feels they need to be tested, even if you don't have symptoms. To access testing, call your health care provider or the health unit.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne. It can be reached at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.
