The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) is reporting no change in the confirmed COVID-19 cases today.

To date, there have been 65 positive tests in the region. Of those, 57 are resolved and seven people have died. The health unit is following one known active case.

The health unit is aware of 5,417 tests beng done locally, which is an increase of 46 from the last report. There are 283 tests under investigation.

An anti-racism march is planned for today. It starts at noon at Participark and will head to city hall.

Yesterday, PHU medical officer of health Dr. Lianne Catton offered some ways for people to reduce potential exposure to COVID-19 at the events.

She said people should be physically distancing from people they don't live with, and wear a non-medical mask.

Today's update from the health unit also talks about planning for summer vacations.

"If you are beginning to plan for a summer vacation, the health unit is encouraging people to stay close to home," reads the update.

"If you decide to travel, be prepared for new requirements like health checks and face coverings on planes or the reduced number of seats available on passenger buses to help allow for physical distancing. You may also be subject to additional provincial or territorial public health measures at your final destination so be aware of the local situation and follow local public health advice."

Testing is open to anyone who feels they need to be tested, even if you don't have symptoms. To access testing, call your health care provider or the health unit.

There are COVID-19 Assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst and Hornepayne.

The PHU COVID-19 hotline is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It can be reached at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818.
