A new confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported by the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU). This is the 107th case in the health unit area, and the 58th located in Timmins.

A notice issued today by the health unit states that the individual is currently self isolating and the exposure category is under investigation.

This is the first case reported by PHU since Nov. 20.

"Public health will notify all close contacts directly," the PHU notice states. "If you are not contacted by the PHU, you are not considered a close contact. Regardless of an announcement of a case, everyone is reminded to stay home if they have symptoms and get tested."

Residents who believe they may have been exposed to COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive should self-isolate and complete an online self-assessment.

Testing can be done at the nearest assessment centre, or contact the PHU at at 705-267-1181 or toll-free at 1-800-461-1818.
