A Timmins neighbourhood is getting loud for healthcare workers.

Every night, people on Claimpost Trail are out making noise to show their thanks for local healthcare workers, and it's all thanks to 12-year-old Hayleigh Piercey.

"Well, it all started out when my mom saw that KiSS 99.3 posted on her Facebook about getting loud at 7 p.m. every night. So, my mom sent it to me and said that we should try it, and we did," said Hayleigh.

"At first, it was only us getting loud with all of our noisemakers. Then, the next day, I decided to make a sign about it and put it out on our front lawn to try and get more people to get loud with us.The first day, nobody saw it. But a couple days after that, we had about three houses doing it. Our street has a group chat on Facebook, so one day when someone saw my sign, they took a picture of it and sent it to the group chat. That's when more people started to come and join. The next day they posted it, we had about half the street join us! Ever since then, we've had more and more families joining us everyday!"

She noted how doctors, nurses, firefighters and other essential workers are working hard to save lives.

"So, I believe that the right way to say thanks is to cheer for them everyday. If we can get more and more people to join us, then I think that our essential workers will know that we care about them and what they're doing right now and we wouldn't be able to survive without them," she said.
