International travel cause of new COVID-19 case in Timiskaming area

The Timiskaming Health Unit is reporting one new COVID-19 case.

According to the health unit, the exposure is international travel. The person is in the north part of the region, which is the Kirkland Lake area, and self-isolating.

"Contact tracing is underway and those who have been identified as close contacts have been, or are in the process of being notified," reads the update.

This is the 91st confirmed case of the virus for the Timiskaming Health Unit. Of those, 89 are recovered and one person has died. There is one known active case.

There are assessment centres in the areas of Temiskaming Shores, Englehart, Kirkland Lake, and Temagami. Testing is by appointment only.
