Have your say on masks in Timmins with this survey

With Timmins council getting ready to talk about mandatory masks, a councillor has launched an online survey for feedback.

Earlier this week, Mayor George Pirie asked for a report at the July 14 meeting on masks.

Currently, the Porcupine Health Unit recommends wearing a mask when physical distancing isn't possible.

There are cases of regional medical officers of health in Ontario issuing an order. For example, it was done in the Wellington Dufferin Health Unit at the start of Phase 2 of reopening, and in the Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health district where several cases were traced back to one service-based business.

The City of Toronto voted unanimously to require masks or face coverings in all indoor public places starting July 7.

Leading up to the July 14 Timmins meeting, council has been asked to talk to residents about it.

After Monday's meeting, Coun. Rock Whissell said he received a number of emails.

To give people a way to provide feedback, and to gather information, he created an online form for people to fill out.

The short survey asks your age, what ward you live in, and whether or not you agree with having a mask bylaw. You can also provide input about at what point the city should implement a bylaw.

Information provided in the survey may be presented at a council meeting.

You can fill out the survey here.
