A fourth COVID-19 case has been reported in the James and Hudson Bay region.

It is the 82nd confirmed case of the virus in the Porcupine Health Unit region. The individual was tested Sept. 20.

According to the health unit, the latest case is an individual between the ages of 20 and 29 and is the contact of another positive case. They are self isolating.

A statement from Moose Cree Chief Mervin Cheechoo confirms the case is in Moose Factory. There are currently three active cases in the community.

"Community members may be concerned that they have been in close contact with one of the positive cases. If the staff from the Moose Factory Health Centre do not contact you, then it is very likely that you have not been in close contact with the positive cases," reads his statement.

"The identities are kept confidential by the health professionals as everyone has a legal right to privacy about their medical information, even in a pandemic. Even I am not informed of the identities of the positive cases."

Of the 82 confirmed cases in the health unit region, 67 are resolved and nine people have died. There are six known active cases of the virus.
