Four classes at a Hearst high school are in isolation because of a confirmed COVID-19 case.
The Conseil scolaire catholique de district des Grandes Rivieres website reports the classes affected are at Hearst Catholic High School. The school is open.
According to the province, one student at the school has tested positive.
The Porcupine Health Unit hasn't reported any new COVID-19 cases since Sunday when two cases were confirmed in the Hearst, Hornepayne area. The health unit is no longer reporting the age or gender of confirmed cases locally, however, the provincial database shows one of the cases reported Sunday is a male under the age of 20. It is not known if that is the case at the high school
To date, there have been 95 cases of the virus reported in the region. Of those, 81 are recovered and nine people have died. The three known active cases in the region are listed as being in Hearst, Hornepayne, and there are two active cases outside the health unit area.
Yesterday, a bulletin was released warning of a potential exposure to the virus at Rick's Muscle World Centre gym in Hearst on Tuesday, Oct. 20 and Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
People who were at the gym during those times are being asked to monitor for 14 days, which ends Wednesday, Nov. 4 or Thursday, Nov. 5.
According to the health unit, an infected person can spread the virus up to 48 hours before they had any symptoms or tested positive.
Typical symptoms include: fever, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, loss of sense of smell or taste, sore throat/hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing, runny nose or nasal congestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
Atypical symptoms include: unexplained fatigue or malaise, muscle aches, delirium, unexplained or increased number of falls, acute functional decline, exacerbation of current chronic conditions, chills, headaches, croup, conjunctivitis.
