Five new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Moosonee.

The people are contacts of previously announced cases, according to a Weeneebayko Area Health Authority news release.

Since Friday, 15 cases have now been confirmed in the community.

There is also a potential exposure risk to people who were at GG's Ace Hardware Store in Moosonee Thursday Feb. 1 to Friday, Feb. 19. The Porcupine Health Unit is advising anyone who visited the store those days to closely monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the last day they visited, which ends Feb. 25 to March 5.

People experiencing symptoms should self-isolate at home and call for testing.

These will bring the total number of cases confirmed to date to 329. Of those, 278 are recovered and 25 people have died. There are 26 known active cases.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
