An asymptomatic person who tested positive for COVID-19 has been retested and doesn't meet the definition of a confirmed case, according to the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU).

Yesterday afternoon, a health unit bulletin reported a person had tested positive as part of the regular screening of long-term care facilities.

The person was retested Oct. 14 and the test results are negative.

"Based on this and the clinical assessment, this individual does not meet the definition of a confirmed case of COVID-19 and will not be counted as a positive case," reads a PHU news release.

Today, a new confirmed case was reported in the Hearst, Hornepayne area. It is the 88th confirmed case in the region to-date.

Of the confirmed cases, 77 are recovered and nine people have died. There are two known active cases.
