No matter where you live, if you're looking for one more snowmobile ride, snowmobile race or even ice fishing trip to close off your season well you'll be able to do all three next weekend March 18 and 19 at Horword Lake Lodge.
Horwood Lake Lodge will be hosting a Race what you Ride. This means if you ride a 600 cc that you can ride on the trails, you can enter it in the 600 cc class and above.
If you have a genuine race sled which is only for the tracks, come on out as they'll even have an open class so you to can come out and enjoy the weekend with them and the other competitors.
All Horwood Lake Lodge ask from the competitors is to be honest and show good sportsmanship and enter your sled where you believe is fair for everyone.
The track is a snow-packed track 660 feet long with a 1,200 foot runoff.
Practice runs start at 10 a.m. and Races start at 12:30 p.m. each day. Kirkland Lake TNT Drags will be on hand to help run the drag races in a safe and efficient manner.
The races will be a two day event with day one being a double elimination. This allows everyone a chance to race twice in the class they registered in.
Day two double elimination grudge matches that will allow everyone to race at least twice.
Spectators can watch free of charge.
Since this might be your last weekend out, Horwood Lake Lodge is offering a Fishing Derby and have a couple of Glamping Tipis still available, for those who wish to spend the weekend with them.
If they are full for the Glamping Tipis, Horwood Lake Lodge is pleased to inform you that, since Cedar Meadows Resort and Spa has sponsored the event, they will be able to provide accommodations as well.
This will allow sledders to ride Horwood Lake Lodge's private trails throughout the weekend making for an enjoyable last ride of the season.
The Fishing Derby will be a two-day 50/50 fishing derby. This means that 50 per cent of all fees paid will go to the largest fish (length) and the remaining 50 per cent will go to the Foleyet Sportsman Club.
Entry fees are $5 for adults and kids fish for free.
Anyone without rods can still join the fun as Horwood Lake Lodge can provide equipent for anyone needing fishing rods. All they ask is a $2 donation to the Foleyet Snow Mobile club.
To keep this fun and simple, Horwood Lake Lodge has decided to make it, largest fish any species. All fish caught must be returned to the water.
The purpose for this weekend is to help you finish off your season with one more winter experience and help to Promote Northeastern Ontario as the world's best snowmobile destination.
The event is also sponsored by Mikey's General Sales and Repairs, our local Skidoo dealer.
Mikey's will be at the event with products for anyone interested in purchasing something for next season.
