TimminsToday, in partnership with the Timmins and District Humane Society and the Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Hi my name is Norma! My foster mom says it’s a mystery where I came from. I was afraid of the hardwood floors and the stairs and even the television at first, but I got over that pretty quickly.
My foster mom says I am the best dog ever, and she can’t imagine why I wasn’t claimed from the pound. She says I’m so good she should adopt me all to herself!
When people come to visit they leave thinking about me too, apparently I leave quite the impression, mommy says it’s my ‘soulful’ eyes. My foster mom says I am good with children, cats, and babies. . . babies are my favourite! I haven’t been around a lot of dogs. I like some, but a couple I met weren't a good fit for me.
I don’t really bark much at all, not even when people come to the door, I’m so quiet in the house and on my walks. I just like to lay about at your feet, or quietly on the carpet.
I love walks, and my foster mom says I walk nicely on a leash and don’t pull, whatever that means . . . all I know is when I start to get enticed by a smell or something distracting my foster mom just tells me not to, and then I trot along beside her and forget all about it. If I was let off leash I would run, so foster momma says a home with a fenced yard is best.
Mostly I just like my toys to chew, it’s hard sometimes to know which toys are mine and which ones are the kids but I am learning, mommy says I learn super quick, but don’t leave out ziploc bags, I love those!
I am a happy dog, I just love everyone I meet, and I like to just be part of the family, and I like napping and walking. I eat like the dainty lady dog that I am, and take treats gently even from children’s hands.
Mommy says that I will get scooped up pretty quick because I’m such a perfect dog, I hope so, I can’t wait to settle into my forever home, will it be yours?”
Norma is spayed, vaccines are up-to-date, and she is ready for her forever home. If you can be that perfect home, please apply at www.noaws.com.
