PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply and delivery of electricity and drinking water, energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.
You are the ideal candidate if you:
Possess a valid Water Treatment Operator Class 3 license and a valid Wastewater Treatment Operator Class 2 license issued by the Ontario Government. Consideration will be given to those who hold a lower level of valid operator licenses (OIT);
Possess, at a minimum, a post- secondary diploma in Water Resource Technology or Environmental Engineering Technology;
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the maintenance and repair of equipment including basic knowledge and skills such as electrical, plumbing, millwright and welding;
Possess solid written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate technical information in a tactful and persuasive manner to both the internal and external customers;
Must be physically fit to move material, have a good mechanical aptitude, display good laboratory skills, and be responsible for your own safety as well as for others;
Ability to be on-call on a scheduled basis for after hour emergencies; and
Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Driver's License and such other necessary certificates and licenses to perform the functions associated with the position.
Your duties will include:
Maintaining high quality drinking water and effectively treating wastewater at facilities under the operating direction of PUC Services Inc.;
Traveling to facilities operated by PUC Services Inc. and working out of town for extended periods of time. The position is subject to shift work and an on-call schedule; and
Maintaining and operating all process control, and other related equipment required for the operation of the Water Treatment Plant, Water and Wastewater facilities under the direction of PUC Services Inc, the related pumping stations, and reservoirs in an efficient and safe manner.
