With the federal election in full swing, Timmins-James Bay candidates are on the campaign trail.
Election day is Oct. 21, and there are five candidates running in the riding: NDP Charlie Angus, Liberal Michelle Boileau, Conservative Kraymr Grenke, Green Max Kennedy, and PPC Renaud Roy.
Tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 25) at 6 p.m., Angus is holding an open house at his Timmins campaign office located at 71 Algonquin Blvd. E. (the entrance is on Maple Street South). People can stop by, chat with the team, get a lawn sign or become a volunteer. It runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 26 Angus, Boileau and Grenke are taking part in a debate event called Les Nocturnes organized by the Conseil de la cooperation de l'Ontario (CCO) at College Boreal. It runs in the Goldcorp room from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Questions will be asked in English and French, and candidates can answer in the language of their choice. While it is part of the CCO's annual general meeting activities, it is open to the public. They are asking people to sign up before here.
Later this week, Grenke is heading up the James Bay Coast. He'll be visiting Moosonee, Moose Factory, Fort Albany, Kashechewan and Attawapiskat from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. According to his campaign team, he's the first federal Conservative candidate to visit communities north of Moosonee during an election campaign.
These are events that the campaigns have told TimminsToday about.
