Missing hunter, 77, found dead near North Bay

NORTH BAY — A 77-year-old North Bay-area man has been found dead after being reported missing on Nov. 7.

OPP told BayToday.ca on Nov. 8, that the body of Murray Skuce of East Ferris Township was found by members of the search party who were out looking for him. No foul play is suspected.  

Skuce was reported missing Nov. 7 while on a hunting trip. He had last been seen near Lennon Lake in Hardy Township.

A post-mortem exam is to be conducted today. 

Skuce was reported to have gone hunting on foot on Nov. 6. He knew the area very well, according to reports, but he did not meet up with family at the predetermined time, prompting the call to police.

Officers from the North Bay OPP detachment searched area by boat along with the Ministry of Natural Resources, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit, OPP Snow Machine, All Terrain Vehicle and Vessel Enforcement Unit, OPP Aviation Services: Helicopter Division and members of Skuce's family.

The OPP Helicopter utilized the Forward Looking Infra Red device.
