ONTARIO: Online voting issues push back polls across province

Some communities have added an extra day of voting

Several municipalities have been forced to allow voting to continue past 8 p.m. over delays with an online voting system.

Sudbury and Timmins have both added an extra hour of voting, while the Town of Collingwood has declared an emergency and will allow voting to continue until 8 p.m. Tuesday - delaying election results by a full 24 hours. Nearby Blue Mountains will also allow voting to continue until 8 p.m. Tuesday, as will voting in Springwater.

The Town of Collingwood put the problem down to high load volumes affecting the Dominion Voting System.

"The extension is deemed necessary and advisable for the conduct of the election, ensuring the election is accessible to voters, the integrity of process being maintained, and be fair and non-biased," reads a release from the town.
