Ward 5 candidate Neil Siblall.

TimminsToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to the voters. Here's Ward 5 candidate Neil Siblall's introduction:

Neil Siblall is a proud resident of Timmins.  Born and raised in Timmins, Neil left to pursue post-secondary studies and post-graduate studies in 1993.  He returned home in 2003 to work in health-care.  In 2010, Neil remained committed to working for the people of Timmins by transitioning to education. For the past 12 years, he has worked together with learners of all ages within the District School Board Ontario North East and Northern College. Currently, Neil is part of the team at Science Timmins.

As Neil remains focused to the community through his work, he is also a volunteer for the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation and the Radiosonde Team for the Strato-Science 2022 campaign. Neil met his wife in Timmins and they are raising their daughter. They enjoy many local activities such as camping, fishing, hunting, downhill skiing, ringette and gymnastics.

Neil wishes to continue his community involvement by running for councillor for Ward 5. As he has always been interested in politics, now is the right time for a new challenge. Through his experiences in education and health-care, Neil has learned that relationships need to be built and maintained. No one person can drive their focus and intention on others. But rather, by listening to all those involved while keeping an open mind, people can come together as a group for common goals. To succeed, it is vital that these goals not only benefit the team but everyone who may be affected by the outcomes.

Timmins has endured many challenges in recent history while still trying to solve current ones. Despite these very complicated issues, Timmins remains a great place to raise a family, retire, get an education, run a business, or enjoy the outdoors. Having lived here most of his life, Neil knows the promise and potential of Timmins. Individuals from diverse backgrounds coming together to celebrate or face challenges in Timmins are what make this city great.

Neil wants to hear your opinions and concerns and be your voice on council.  To contact Neil for information, concerns, questions or campaign donations, please email [email protected].

The municipal election is on Oct. 24. The other candidates in Ward 5 are Steve Black, Rick Dubeau, Veronica Farrell, Andrew Marks, Caroline Martel, James McMahon, Kristin Murray, Cory Robin, and Ed Stecewicz.
