Ward 5 candidate Ed Stecewicz.

TimminsToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to the voters. Here's Ward 5 candidate Ed Stecewicz's:

Born and raised in Timmins, I have worked on major political campaigns since 2006 as a voter contact co-ordinator and volunteer co-ordinator.

The people I have worked for and with include Gilles Bisson, mayor Tom Laughren, MP Charlie Angus and most recently MPP George Pirie's mayoral campaign and MPP campaign.

As a contact co-ordinator, accompanying the candidate, I've heard citizens' concerns over the years at the doors, on the streets, at the businesses, and on the phones. What better avenue to bring forward citizens' concerns than the council table?

In my quest for a seat on council as a Ward 5 councillor, I am continuing and will continue to election day, visting businesses, talking to people on the streets and on phones. In the near future, I will begin a door-to-door campaign with a strong, energetic, dedicated volunteer team to hear citizens' concerns.

The future of Timmins is bright with our minerals, manufacturing, energy, green energy and agriculture sectors. We have brilliant people in these sectors and in other areas of our great city, we need to work together to bring this bright future to fruition.

As councillor for Ward 5, I'm more than willing to work with a united council to push our future ahead and to work together with our dynamic provincial and federal members. I have built not only a great working relationship but a great friendship with Charlie and  George, which I feel is a great advantage. To borrow a phrase from one of my great mentors, "We have what the world wants and needs right here." Timmins the time is now to move forward together!

I am a:

  • Recipient of Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal
  • Recipient Mayor's Volunteer Award
  • Former board member Anti Hunger Coaltion Timmins
  • Former board member Mayor's Advisory Accessibility Committee
  • Former volunteer youth justice commitee
  • Former board  member Volunteer Timmins
  • Former board member, education co-ordinator ChildFind Timmins

The municipal election is on Oct. 24. The other Ward 5 candidates are Steve Black, Rick Dubeau, Veronica Farrell, Andrew Marks, Caroline Martel, James McMahon, Kristin Murray, Cory Robin, and Neil Siblall.
