A Timmins man is facing multiple charges following two break & enters.

An investigation was initiated following a report of a break and enter at a residence in the North end of the city.

Investigation revealed that on two occasions, an individual entered the residence and various items were taken.

The thefts were committed when the homeowners were away from their residence for an extended period of time.

Police executed a search warrant on May 13, 2015 at a residence in Timmins.

Police seized the suspected stolen items which included tools, coins, alcohol and jewelry.

The total estimated value of the items stolen is approximately $35,000.

The estimated value of items seized by police is approximately $2,000.

As a result, Gerald Morrissette, 36, of Timmins is charged with two counts of break, enter and commit theft, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He was released on a Promise to Appear, with a court date set for July 28, 2015.

With the summer months approaching, the Timmins Police Service would like to remind residents that when leaving their home for an extended period of time, steps can be taken to avoid becoming a victim of theft.

Those include refraining from posting information about vacations on social media, enlisting a trusted friend to check on your residence, and placing both outdoor and indoor lights on a timer.
