The Museum of Northern History and the Contemporary Art Committee will host the 8th Annual Contemporary Art Exhibition.

Artists at all stages in their career are eligible and all disciplines are welcome.

8th Annual Contemporary Juried Art Exhibition 2015 Theme: Ode to Joy

Exhibition Dates: April 3 to April 30, 2015

Jurors: Yun-Shan Lee (Taiwanese guest artist), Pat Hacking and Lydia Alexander

Categories of Entry:

  • 2 dimensional work maximum dimensions 60 inches x 60 inches in size including frame.

  • 3 dimensional work must be able to fit through a regular single doorway.

  • Performance (Music, Story Telling, Dance Theatre) – No longer than 5 minutes not including credits.

  • Video Work – No longer than 5 minutes not including credits.

  • Student entry (student entries will not be juried as a separate category)

Entry Rules:

  1. An artist may submit a maximum of TWO entries in each category. All work must be original, created by the entrant, no older than two years and not previously shown at the Museum of Northern History.

  2. All 2 dimensional works must be wired and properly prepared for hanging.

  3. All 3 dimensional works must be presented ready for displaying.

  4. The maximum finished dimensions accepted will be:
    o 2Dworksapproximately60inchesx60inchesincludingframe.
    o 3D works approximately 32 inches wide (standard doorway).
    o 15poundsmaximumweightforwallart

  1. Shipping of work to and from the exhibit is the sole responsibility of the artist.

  2. Items will be inspected upon arrival, then photographed and catalogued. Any damage will be reported to the owner immediately. The MNH and Committee assume no responsibility or liability for loss or damage that may occur in transit or off of Museum property, or any damages which occur 48 hours after the exhibition and Museum insurance coverage ends.

  3. Entries that are accepted must be on display from April 1st to April 30th, 2015. They must be picked up no later than 4pm on May 2nd, 2015. After that a ten dollar fee will be charged per day as the museum does not have the space to accommodate excess artwork.

  4. The exhibit is juried by digital images and video images. Do not send the original artwork. Only representations of the work need to be submitted and originals will be delivered if accepted. Digital files on CD must be jpeg format, about 1MB in size and readable on a PC. For sculpture entries, please submit at least 2 images per artwork. Entries will also be accepted by email to [email protected]

  5. Each entry must be received at the Museum of Northern History by March 7, 2015
    o NOTE:Donotsubmitoriginalworkatthistime.
    o We will not be responsible for loss or damage in the mail of the material submitted.

       10. The digital jurying will be the final selection for works accepted for the show.

       11. Successful entrants will be notified by phone or email.
      
       12. Accepted works must be received by the Museum of Northern History between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. no later than March 28.

       13. Sales: Should an artist choose to have their work for sale, a 25 percent commission is deducted from the sale price. The Artist must include this commission in the price they set and record that price on the entry form. 20 percent of sales will go to the Museum; the remaining 5 percent will go to the Contemporary Art Committee.

Important Dates:

Entry Deadline: Saturday March 7, 2015 (digital submission)
Delivery of Selected Pieces: Saturday March 28, 2015
Opening Reception: Saturday April 11, 2015
Exhibition Dates: Friday April 3 to Thursday April 30, 2015

Contemporary Art Gala

The Contemporary Fundraising Gala will be Semi- Formal and will include hors d’oeuvres by Chef Anthony Dal Pai, and performances by James Taylor, the Pulse Dance Studio, and Michael Rawley (Save the Lasalle).

There will also be a Silent Auction.

Tickets are available at the Museum or from Committee Members. Cash Only.
