The Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that crews will be doing Night snow removal in the City of Timmins, from Sunday March 1st, to Thursday morning March 5th 

  1. Sunday Night March 1st, – Crews Supporting Operations East of Hwy. 655 – King Street, Harold
  2. Monday Night March 2nd, – Suzanne, Lonergan, Lamminen
  3. Tuesday Night March 3rd, – Denise, Westmount, ( Airport to College ) College
  4. CHANGE – Wednesday Night March 4th –  Crew Switching to Snow Plowing Across City

A.  Note on the Plan: The above plan or parts of the plan may be changed at any time and/or delayed if a winter storm is in effect or related to mechanical issues. The snow removal crew will change to a snow plowing operation. Those streets that may not be done will be done on the next available snow removal shift.

B.   Illegal placement of Snow from Residential Property onto Sidewalk and Road: A reminder that City BYLAW 1993-4162 does not allow a person to place snow from a person’s property and place onto the road or sidewalk.

C.   Posted No Parking Signs Advising Winter Maintenance: We would like to remind residents that Public Works will be posting colour coded No Parking Signs notifying that Winter Maintenance will be taking place. Vehicles will be ticketed and towed to allow for Snow Removal Crew to advance.

D.  Winter Parking Ban: A reminder that the Winter Parking Ban is effect and parking on the street is not permitted on any day, between the hours of 23:30hrs to 07:30hrs, from November 1st through April 30th

E.   Priority Sequence for Snow Removal Operations:

a.  Day Operation:

  1. Snow removal is never done in the area where Sanitation is taken place.
  2. High density residential areas (Older Section of City: one-ways, narrow streets);
  3. Low density residential areas 

b. Night Operation:

  1. Highway sections;
  2. High Density commercial sections;
  3. Main Arterial Routes

F. Safety: A reminder to respect safety signage as the safety of workers is very important.
