Daytime Snow Removal Operations – West Highway 655 – Week of February 2nd to February 6th

From February 2nd to February 6th 2015, the Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that crews will be doing snow removal in Timmins, West of Highway 655:

1. Monday February 2nd, Timmins South – Graham, Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Seneca, Huron

2. Tuesday February 3rd, Timmins North – Cedar North, 5th, Pearl, Belleview

3. Wednesday February 4th, Timmins North – Delia, University, Melrose, Dieppe, Jade

4. Thursday February 5th Timmins North – Spruce (8th to Brousseau), Tamarack (Murdock to North of Hamelin Dead end), Hemlock ( Murdock to Roche)

5. Friday, February 6th, Timmins South – Elm South, Maple South

A. Note on the Plan: The above plan or parts of the plan may be changed at any time and/or delayed if a winter storm is in effect or related to mechanical issues. The snow removal crew will change to a snow plowing operation. Those streets that may not be done will be done on the next available snow removal shift.

B. Illegal placement of Snow from Residential Property onto Sidewalk and Road: A reminder that City BYLAW 1993-4162 does not allow a person to place snow from a person’s property and place onto the road or sidewalk.

C. Posted No Parking Signs Advising Winter Maintenance: We would like to remind residents that Public Works will be posting colour coded No Parking Signs notifying that Winter Maintenance will be taking place. Vehicles will be ticketed and towed to allow for Snow Removal Crew to advance.

D. Winter Parking Ban: A reminder that the Winter Parking Ban is effect and parking on the street is not permitted on any day, between the hours of 23:30hrs to 07:30hrs, from November 1st through April 30th

E. Priority Sequence for Snow Removal Operations:
a. Day Operation:
1. Snow removal is never done in the area where Sanitation is taken place.
2. High density residential areas (Older Section of City: one-ways, narrow streets);
3. Low density residential areas

b. Night Operation:
1. Highway sections;
2. High density commercial sections;
3. Main Arterial Routes.

F. Safety: A reminder to respect safety signage as the safety of workers is very important.
