Reports of broken traffic lights, reminder to treat as four-way stops

During the morning of December 18, police have been receiving reports of non-functioning traffic lights at various intersections throughout the city.

These intersections include but are not limited to Riverside/Norman, Algonquin/Theriault, Joseph/Riverside, Mountjoy/Algonquin.

The Timmins Police Service has been advised that areas of Timmins are experiencing power outages.

Hydro is aware of the situation however is unable to provide a time estimate for work being done.

The Timmins Police Service reminds drivers that when traffic lights are not functioning, intersections should be treated as four-way stops.

At a four-way stop, the driver who reaches the intersection first proceeds through the intersection first.

If two drivers arrive at the same time, the vehicle on the right proceeds first.
