At approximately 3 a.m. on November 26, police received reports of individuals going through vehicles in the Melrose area.
Officers located the individuals and they were placed under arrest.
Phillip LOSIER, 19, of Timmins faces charges of theft from a motor vehicle under $5000 (x4), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x4).
He was released on a Promise to Appear in court.
A 17-year-old male from Timmins also faces charges of theft from a motor vehicle under $5000 (x4), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x4).
He was held in custody bending a bail hearing. Pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the youth’s name cannot be published.
The Timmins Police Service has received numerous calls regarding valuables taken from vehicles.
With the holiday season approaching, residents are reminded to Lock it or Lose it.
Many theft incidents involve ‘car hopping,’ where criminals try various vehicle doors before finding one unlocked.
The best way to avoid becoming a victim of theft is to ensure vehicles are locked at all times, and valuables are placed out of plain view.
