KIRKLAND LAKE - Canadian music stars Nikki Yanofsky, The Sheepdogs, Alyssa Reid and Virginia To Vegas will be coming to perform in Kirkland Lake.

The Kirkland Lake Festivals Committee announced in a media release on Tuesday night their entertainment lineup for the upcoming 18-day 2015 Kirkland Lake Winter Carnival, running February 12- March, which they said is another star-studded lineup of live concerts.

The festival committee said the first concert of the carnival will be on Friday, February 13 with Alyssa Reid performing live in the Northern College Gymnasium with special guest, Virginia To Vegas for an all-ages show.

They said the Edmonton-born, Toronto-based Alyssa Reid burst onto the music scene in 2010 with her million selling, internationally chart topping hit Alone Again.

They said Reid’s two albums, 2011’s The Game and 2014’s Time Bomb have produced several hit songs, including The Game, Talk Me Down, Running Guns, Satisfaction Guaranteed and Hurricane.

The festival committee said opening for Reid will be 24-year-old singer-songwriter Virginia To Vegas with her debut hit We Are Stars which featured Reid and was a major success in Canada earlier this year.

They said the Toronto-based Virginia To Vegas’ debut album has just been released.

The six-song EP also includes his most recent hits Don’t Fight The Music and Colourful.

The festival committee said the next concert in the carnival’s lineup will be Montreal’s Nikki Yanofsky who will perform in the Northern College Auditorium on Thursday, February 19.

They said the 20-year-old’s fusion of jazz and pop is receiving international critical acclaim and commercial success.

They said music legend Quincy Jones served as executive producer on Yanofsky’s newest album, Little Secrets, which features her hit songs Something New and Necessary Evil.

They said Yanofsky’s phenomenal voice made her an international sensation at the age of 15.

She’s headlined major jazz festivals, performed at Carnegie Hall, and sang at both the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Olympic games.

The next concert announced is The Sheepdogs, who performed at a hugely successful Homecoming Week concert at the complex in 2012, will return to Kirkland Lake to headline the fish derby pub in the gym at Northern College on Saturday, February 21.

The festival committee said since becoming the first unsigned act to make the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, the Saskatoon band has won three Juno Awards, opened the Grey Cup and performed at some of the biggest music festivals in the world.

The Sheepdogs have produced five straight Top 5 rock hits in Canada, including I Don’t Know, Who, The Way It Is, Feeling Good and How Late, How Long.

The band’s new album is expected in early 2015.

The other concert announced is the 2015 Stars of Pop concert, which will be held on Sunday, February 15 in the gym at Northern College and will feature live tributes to One Direction and Taylor Swift.

Winter Carnival concert tickets will be available at reception at the complex and online beginning Friday, December 5.

Tickets for Alyssa Reid and Virginia To Vegas are $20 advance, $25 at the door.

The concert is all ages, but the back half of the floor will be licensed for ages 19 and over.

Tickets for Nikki Yanofsky’s all-ages performance in the auditorium are $40 and will be available beginning December 5.

The bar in the cafeteria will be open before the show and at intermission.

Initially, tickets for The Sheepdogs will be available exclusively as part of the AuRico Gold Winter Carnival Fish Derby package for $100, which includes an entry to the $50,000 Fish Derby, a chance at the $5,000 elimination draw and a pub ticket.

Any remaining single tickets for The Sheepdogs’ performance will be made available on January 16 at a cost of $40.

Age of majority is required for the pub.

Kirkland Lake’s award-winning Winter Carnival begins on February 12 with the crowning of Miss Kirkland Lake at the CJKL Carnival Queen crowning and Fashion Show at Northern College.
