Trailer park owner addresses flooding

From southwestern Ontario to northeastern Ontario, last week’s heavy rain wreaked havoc throughout the province and Timmins was not immune.

From southwestern Ontario to northeastern Ontario, last week’s heavy rain wreaked havoc throughout the province and Timmins was not immune.

With flooding hitting residents harder in the low lying areas of town, ongoing drainage issues have once again come to the forefront.

True North Estates, a land lease property on Pine St. South saw water rise up as deep as the front porches of some homes and some roads within the property became impassable to all but the tallest of trucks.

Quantum Realty Services Ltd. is the property management company currently looking after True North Estates on behalf of the new owners, Mary Jane White and Jim White, who are from the London and Sarnia area.

Kerri Blais of Quantum acknowledged resident complaints that flooding has been going on for a long time and has not been properly addressed in the past, but explained that since the White family took possession of the property this spring, they have been working to solve the issues that accompanied the purchase of the property.

Today, Jim White, one of the new property owners joined Blais and a number of contractors at True North Estates in what was the third gathering of appropriate experts in an attempt to overcome the flooding issues on the property.

Although neither White nor the contractors were able to put a definitive time frame on the completion of the improvements, the improvements to the pumping station are well under way.

In reference to the pumping station that connects the drainage system of the property to the city sewers, “It’s a work in progress,” said White, “It’s working now, but we want it to be perfect.”
