NEWS RELEASE

CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY

****************************
Maria and Julia McInnis, along with Canadian Cancer Society staff, will gather at the Farmer’s Market in the downtown Timmins Urban Park on Thursday, August 21 at 11 a.m. where they will ring the bell to open the market for the day.

Maria and her sister Julia will be at the Urban Park until 2 p.m. promoting their run from Timmins to Sudbury and accepting donations towards the Wheels of Hope transportation program in Timmins.

On Friday, August 22, Maria, Julia and their team will begin the demanding journey from Timmins to Sudbury at 6:30 a.m. from the Canadian Cancer Society office in Timmins.

They expect to arrive in Sudbury on Monday, August 25 at approximately 2 p.m.

We invite everyone in our community to join us as we wish them well on their trek.

Any early birds who would like to see them off on Friday morning are more than welcome to do so.

As they make their way along Highway 144, we encourage other travellers and residents they may pass to show them support, cheer them on and make a donation!

These ladies have been fundraising and training for this run all summer and we can’t thank them enough for their dedication to the Wheels of Hope program.

Many cancer patients will benefit from their commitment and the generosity of their sponsors and donors.

Anyone who would like to sponsor or make a donation to this fundraiser can do so by visiting www.cancer.ca/fundraise - click on, “find a fundraiser” and search for the event, Wheels to Heels for Hope or for the cancer fighter Maria McInnis.

Donation jars are also available at a variety of locations in the city.

There is a Facebook page called Wheels to Heels for Hope.

Show them your support and like their page or leave a message of support!
